Reconnections

Reconnections is a four night / five day residential retreat in the heart of the Lake District with Jonathon Porritt and other leading contributors. It is part of Forum for the Future's ongoing commitment to help people get to grips with sustainable development - at every level - both personally and professionally.

The course provides the space to reconnect with the natural world, with a group of people on the same sort of journey and with the kind of rigorous analysis and debate that is the hallmark of people who care passionately about ideas and values.

"For me, Reconnections was a spark that ignited my interest in doing something practical about climate change and sustainable development. It gave me the opportunity to look at how we have to change values in order to change people. At once it operated on a spiritual, practical and intellectual level."
Mike Kirkham, participant, 2006

Most of Forum for the Future's time is spent building the business case for sustainable development. But many of our partners, in both the public and private sectors, keep telling us that they feel there is a deeper level with which they would like to engage more - that of ethics, personal values and leadership.

Reconnections provides the opportunity to -

  • Explore challenging issues, both topical and timeless, from business ethics, leadership and the complexity of change, through to an appraisal of different perspectives on nature, social justice and the role of business in society
  • Re-engage with the natural world, and reflect on the power of relationships between people and places
  • Benefit from the wisdom, inspiration and practical experience of renowned contributors to sustainable development
  • Re-examine your own personal values and aspirations
  • Enjoy the creative freedom of communicating insights through a range of artistic experiences

The next Reconnections course will be held on 16th - 20th June 2008
